Much Ado

Much is going on at home and in the Swanky Studio!

The swanky studio is moving to a new studio & getting a makeover. Boxes, printers, cables & lots of paper, really are under control, I promise ... but everywhere, and not quite put back together.

And at home we are re-staining our hardwood floors. I am going to go out on a limb and say that they have been the same color since 1958! They went from

light honey oak

to a dark walnut shade.
before & after photos coming soon

Now I just need to find some area rugs for the living room and the boy's room.

Everything Becomes Clear: The Louis Ghost Chair by Philippe Starck

French Designer Philippe Starck's collection of works speaks for itself. Although he is most famous for his work with Italian modern furniture manufacturer Kartell, Starck first gained recognition when he designed the interior for the private apartments of then, French President Frangois Mitterrand.

Working independently as an interior designer and product designer since the mid 70s, Starck has designed everything from an optical mouse for Microsoft, and packaging for a beer company to a line of toothbrushes and a set of wireless speakers for the iPod and iPhone. Starck has a real knack for creating pieces that blend both form and function. His aesthetic can be described as stylized, streamlined and organic, put together with unusual combinations of materials.

One of Starck's most iconic pieces is the Louis Ghost Chair. Made of transparent polycarbonate, this arm chair makes quite the first impression in any modern home. Shock, scratch and weather resistant, the Louis Ghost Chair is right at home both indoors and outdoors. Available in a variety of colors, the Louis Ghost Chair is available in a number of themes, with a fun printed image on the chair back.

A modern classic, the Louis Ghost Chair is helping to celebrate another style icon's 50th anniversary. In honor of Barbie's 50th birthday, Kartell has produced the Ghost Chair and its kid-sized counterpart, LouLou Ghost, in pink, personalized with an image of the famous doll on the chair back. The Barbie Ghost Chair is currently previewing in Milan.

Whether you have one chair or an entire set, the Louis Ghost Chair enhances the look of whatever space you place it in.

I love the spring season because the sun shines longer and we can play outside an extra hour. The flowers bloom and the trees bring forth fresh bright green new growth.

...and I have found the perfect SPRING accessory

This J.Crew Butterfly bauble braclet will certainly look lovely on my wrist.

cruisin into trouble

The hubby and I have been talking vacations lately ... where to go & what to do. Our last vacation was over three years ago and we took our 10 month old (at the time) son with us. Two years before that, we planned a romantic getaway to the Cayman Islands ... only to have it cancel because of Hurricane Ivan made landfall the week before we were to be there.

This time around I thought taking a cruise would be fun for the two of us. My sister, who has been on several cruises, loves them! So I started searching through the travel sites for cruises. I narrowed it down to a few dates cruising through the Mexican Riviera. Amazing deals right now too! Sounds perfect right??

That is until I told my sister about our cruise plans. I told her all about the amazing deals that were going on for the 7 day cruises.... she enlightened me on the world news that I had been missing. 6290 drug related killings last year ... and 1000 in the past two months!

I think we'll stay out of Mexico.

drat!!! my Mexican Riviera plans are foiled. Any suggestions?

Fun with Paper

I am always impressed with talented artists. Painters, Graphic Designers, Paper Graphics, etc. I recently came across a talented artist who does it all. Illustrations, graphic design, and most impressive is Yulia Brodskaya's work with paper.

Strike Gold

S I M P L Y L O V E L Y
Etsy designer, Angela of Bedhead, offers some of the most gorgeous jewelry. This weekend as I was perusing through the jewelry on etsy I stumbled upon this delicate little piece. Lovely, isn't it? And the best part is that Angela donates a percentage of her proceeds towards non-profit organizations.

The BEAUTY in the EVERYDAY

It just so happened that I had the camera at the right moment while this beautiful Monarch butterfly decided to stop for a moment on a grass blade. It reminded me to take a minute, stop and enjoy the beauty in our everyday lives.
If we don't, we'll miss it

chair & a half

I am currently loving the idea of a chair & a half. Not that I am in the market to purchase one anytime soon, but the thought of having one makes me smile. Having an oversized chair to lounge in while I watch the latest elimination on American Idol sounds good to me!
A while back Apartment Therapy featured a few of their favorites.

These two are other favorites.

Baby Showers

My very creative sister in law and I threw a baby shower for a friend of ours. We knew our friend had chosen blues & browns for the baby's room and so we went with that for color scheme, and added polka dots for a playful effect.
I admit, I had fun making the cupcakes!
