Hand in Hand

In early childhood you may lay the foundation of poverty or riches, industry or idleness, good or evil, by the habits to which you train your children. Teach them right habits then, and their future life is safe.

Welcome Mr. President

Dear Mr. President,

My thoughts are many, but my words are few. Today was a historic day as I watched your Inauguration as our 44th President. I was humbled as I watched you take the oath of office. My heart is full. Change has come and our country has come a long way. My two young son's will not remember this day, but I will tell them that they watched along side me. I look forward with great hope that the next 4 years bring about a change that our America needs. You have inspired many, and know that you will continue to do so. Gandhi said it best, "you must be the change you wish to see in the world". Change starts with us.

May God bless you and may God continue to bless this great country of ours.

It is like a 3-Ring circus over here - really!

Currently I feel like I am spinning in all different directions and I am getting dizzy just thinking about it.

With a website update forthcoming, new designs in the works, and a brand new product line coming out ... not to mention the housekeeping, cooking, laundry, and entertaining I do with the kiddos ...

My latest project is almost done ... at least I hope so, anyway. Here is a sneak peek.

She is quite glamours, don't you think?

Monday Nights just got a little more interesting

I can't get enough of True Beauty. The newest show on ABC Monday nights. It is brilliant, hilarious and unbelievable what some of these beauties are all about. Tyra Banks & Ashton Kutcher are re-defining what true beauty is.

What makes a person truly beautiful? Executive producers Tyra Banks (The Tyra Banks Show, America's Next Top Model) and Ashton Kutcher (executive producer of Punk'd and Beauty and the Geek) re-define the concept of beauty in a wildly revealing new ABC series, True Beauty, premiering, MONDAY, JANUARY 5, 2009 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Hosted and judged by Vanessa Minnillo (former host of TRL and ET), along with judges Cheryl Tiegs (America's first supermodel, currently designer and author) and Nolé Marin (America's Next Top Model and fashion expert for E!, TV Guide, The Tyra Banks Show), the series will determine the True Beauty of six stunning females and four handsome males who will live together in a spectacular Los Angeles mansion as they undergo a series of challenges to determine who is truly the most beautiful.

The gorgeous contestants assume they're being judged solely on their outer appearance. They're only half right; outer beauty is one component the judges are looking for, but contestants are also being evaluated -- unbeknownst to them -- for their INNER beauty as well when they're put through scenarios and situations that require them to make moral decisions.

Each episode will showcase an outer beauty and an inner beauty challenge, during which contestants will be judged on everything from how well they perform in photo shoots to how well they respect their elders. The three judges will observe and critique the contestants' behavior and eliminate one person each week. Only after someone is eliminated will the truth about the show be revealed to him/her, as they watch a video montage of their behavior captured by a hidden camera during the shoot.

At the end of eight episodes, one winner will be declared, a person who is truly beautiful inside and out. That person will receive a cash prize and a spot in PEOPLE magazine's 100 Most Beautiful People issue.

Anthro love

While perusing in the lovely Anthro, I was drawn to this lovely piece.
After looking at the price, I decided to enjoy it at the shop, and not on my neck.

But I did pick up this darling handbag on sale!

I resolve...

... to NOT making any New Years Resolutions.

I am continually setting goals throughout the year. And while January is a great starting point {new year = fresh start} for many, I simply don't subscribe to it.

Instead of setting goals each year, I take a look at my vision board to make sure I am on the right track, and maybe make a few additions.

I started it last year and I keep it in my closet so that I see it everyday - several times a day!

The idea of a vision board is to make it positive and personal. These boards are based upon the Law of Attraction, which has been around and studied for centuries, but made hugely popular by The Secret.

I think I'll make a few additions this year...

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn

Sadly, I admit that I am not much of a reader these days. It is difficult to find the time (even if it's good) to get through a book.

While Christmas shopping at BN for a particular book, this little obscure book sitting on a table drew me to it. After reading the back, I had to read it and could not wait to get started.

I can not recall a time when a book swept me away into a time of poverty and daily struggle and yet I found myself wanting to go there and experience those same struggles and simple joys of life.

The author, Betty Smith, did an exceptional job in re-creating a time and place, and all the details surrounding a era in which she grew up.

I finally finished it last week and all I have to say is READ IT.

Life's Little Lessons

I don't write new years resolutions anymore (I'll explain in another post), instead I reflect back on the year and think of all the lessons I've learned, write them down, and to be better next year.

These may not necessarily be listed in the album of life's great lessons but they are going into my personal album of life's little lessons...

Here are my lessons learned in 2008:

::little boys are the BEST to have around::

::it is impossible to have a clean house EVERYDAY::

::to KNIT ... not very good, but I still knit::

::diet Dr.Pepper is my FRIEND::

::Time Management::

::it's never too late, and you're never too old::

::i am BLESSED::

::32 is too young for wrinkles::

::there are not nearly enough hours in the DAY::

::SLEEP is over-rated::

::to keep VERY good records::

::Family & Good Friends are more precious than GOLD::

::i am lucky/blessed to be a MOM::

::to read the FINE print::
