Sunday Tradition

We started a tradition a while back and it has become one of my favorites. After church on Sundays we make Buttermilk Waffles. I look forward to them and now you can too. Here is the recipe:

4 Eggs beat until lite
2 Cups of Flour
1 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1 tsp. Baking Powder
2 Cups Buttermilk
1 Cup Cooking Oil (or 1/2 cup oil & 1/2 cup butter)

Mix together and pour into a waffle maker (preferably a Belgian Waffle maker)

Top with your favorite topping. My personal favorite is peanut butter and syrup.
Mmmm! I think I may have to make some this morning for breakfast now.

That's Swell

I ended up at a bookstore not too long ago. This was a different sort of bookstore. It only sold used books and everything was a dollar.

Yes. ONE DOLLAR.

I knew I'd find something in there.

Cynthia Rowley & Ilene Rosenzweig co-authored a silly little book called Swell: A Girl's Guide to the Good Life

I am living vicariously through their stories.

This book is now on my book shelf as my go to guide for hosting parties, style, emergency quick fixes and living life with flair... should the need ever arise.

"It's a little bit Audrey, a little Lucy and Ethel, and everything your mother would have taught you - if she'd gone to charm school in Vegas!"

on the agenda

it's not too early to start thinking about what's on next years agenda....

Etsy sellers are so creative!
I love the grey and chartreuse combo that misseskwittys used on this agenda cover.

they've arrived

So...remember this post? and how excited I was to share the latest goodies from Swanky Paper? Well my paper supplier discontinued the paper I had originally used for the first few invitation orders I had. So I researched other suppliers and a few weeks later (and several samples later) I found it at last!

I admit with pride that I love paper ~ all paper. Mohawk's via satin is no exception! I love the look and feel of this paper and I know you will to.

So without further ado....again! Check out the new Swanky Invitations!

7 = wool

What do you get someone who's been married for 7 years? wool.

Happy Anniversary Hon!

I like this!

Tasty Beverage

I do enjoy a fruity drink now and again ... but without the alcohol.

Stirrings all-natural Pink Grapefruit is made with grapefruit essence, triple-filtered water and infused with “Champagne-like” carbonation. The result is a cleaner, crisper, lighter and brighter soda.

Did you know: The grapefruit is a subtropical citrus tree grown for its fruit, which was originally named the "forbidden fruit" of Barbados? Thankfully, you won’t have to consider our Soda forbidden – it only has 50 calories per serving.

Stirrings also has Ginger-ale and Tart Cranberry that I want to try.

M-I-A

where do I begin?! Since last Thursday I have been too busy to even sleep. While Swanky Paper was participating in Nie Nie Day, I was boarding a plane for Chicago. I went to visit one of my favorite friends and her family.

Their living room has a view that I loved waking up to.

I walked out of their front door onto Michigan Avenue ... where shopping and dining awaited us!

Since my friends are new to the city we enjoyed the city bus tour ... wherein I learned quite a bit about Chicago's gangster history ... very fascinating!

We sat and watched this talented guy while at the Navy Pier

So much fun that Chicago ...

A huge thank you to my wonderful husband who played with our boys for those few days so that I could have my own little playdate!

I returned home with several orders from the Nie Nie Day spectacular. I am still in awe at how many wonderful, selfless, and giving people there are. Design Mom had over 300 links to various auctions and websites offering to donate proceeds to the Nielson family.
So...once again I let my family take are of themselves so that I could get to work. Seriously folks, I have the best husband! But now that those orders are completed and the last one from NieNie Day has been shipped, I spent the evening with my family. and I think I will sleep in tomorrow ... as late as my 3 year old will let me anyway.
