an affair with my feet

We hopped in the car for a spur of the moment afternoon at the happiest place on earth! (aka Disneyland). It turned out to be a great afternoon. The lines were short and weather was perfect. We zig-zaged across the park ... and back again ... over here ... then over there.

And at the end of the day my feet were ready for more.

I love my Rainbows! And more importantly, my feet love them too!

I highly recommend getting a pair.

penny wise & pound foolish

There has been some talk around the house as of late with this idiom. No, we at the Cowdell household are not guilty of being penny wise and pound foolish. In fact my hubby makes sure of that!! :)
But this phrase has been mentioned lately and so I wanted to find the orgin. This is what I found:

The Phrase Finder says:

The meaning of the phrase is something on the line of "saving a little money only to lose a great deal more due to their own stupidity."

PENNY WISE AND POUND FOOLISH - "Overcareful about trivial things and undercareful about important ones. The literal image is of the person who fusses over small amounts of money to such an extent that he misses opportunities to save or make large amounts. But the figurative image goes way back; in 'The Historie of Foure-footed Beastes' (1607) Edward Topsell wrote: 'If by covetousnesse or negligence, one withdraw from them their ordinary foode, he shall be penny wise, and pound foolish.'" From "The Dictionary of Cliches" by James Rogers (Ballantine Books, New York, 1985).


So now at the next party you go to you can share this bit of knowledge and impress your friends ... or just stash it away in your gee-wiz file!!

For my birthday, the best husband ever, manged to get tickets to a sold out Michael Buble' concert. It was amazing! He was amazing! He sang, he danced, he joked, and he delivered such a stellar performance.

pause for reflection

I always tend to reflect on my life as another birthday passes. In years past I would tend look at the things I have not done yet and all the things that I want to do. Writing a book, getting that Master's degree, traveling more, etc... you get the idea.

Today I am 32. And I love my life.


This year I am not looking at all the things that I have not done, but rather all the things that I have. I am truly blessed to know who I am and what this life is all about. I married my best friend, whom I love and adore. I have two of the sweetest boys, who love me unconditionally, even when I have my not so great mommy moments. I am so grateful that I get to stay home with them and spend my days wrestling and playing with trains. I have a great family (both my own and my in-laws) who show their love and support always. And I have fantastic friends who are always there for me. I cherish them and their friendship.


Today I am 32 and I love my life!

starting off the week right...or not

so far this has been an exciting week. our little prince, who is 10 months old now, has finally decided to allow his teeth to come in ... TEETH ... not tooth! yesterday, we all dee-lightfully endured the rather painful process of 4 teeth as they made their debut. today is a little better for him, but we are not out of the woods just yet!

so. the boutiques i had last week and on the weekend were fun and i had a great time meeting so many lovely people (and taking their orders!!)

i made some mother's day cards specifically for these events and they sold rather well (whew!!). i have just a few of these left over...

looks like my friends are getting something for mother's day!
